The Priory
The older and original part of the house was constructed as a Vicarage in 1903. Becoming surplus
to the requirements of the church it was sold and converted to a care home for elderly people in 1986, with the extension added in 1994 which effectively doubled the size of the Home.
Accommodation is provided on two floors linked by two
staircases arid a passenger lift. The building is protected by a fire alarm system which is divided into zones so that in the event of fire the source is easily identified and any one in the effected zone are moved to safety in another part of
the building. Each zone is separated from another by Fire doors which close automatically when the alarm sounds.
The ground floor houses two lounges, and a dining room; each lounge has a different character offering choice to our resident.
There are 4 bedrooms on the ground floor; the remaining bedrooms and bathrooms are situated on the first floor. Most bedrooms have en suite facilities and all are linked by a "Nurse call" system to our care staff All corridors are wide
which helps facilitate the use of wheelchairs if required.
The house contains 17 bedrooms of which 14 are single and 3 companion rooms, the main bathroom is equipped with Parker Bath enabling people with mobility problems to bath with ease and
safety
Toilets on both floors are suitable for people requiring assistance
Management
The Priory has been acquired by David & Anthea Johnson who have been running "Wychbury" in Stourbndge since they opened
it in 1983. Wychbury Care Services is a family run enterprise with both their son Daniel (Business manager) and daughter Sara (Care Manager) playing an active part of the enterprise Bringing "The Priory" into the family has given a natural boost to
the business with greater purchasing powers which will benefit both homes.
The Future
It is our intention to upgrade The Priory to the same level of facilities enjoyed by residents at Wychbury. The Mini Bus is a first for The
Priory and is our demonstration of the changes we wish to bring about. New decorations, furniture, commercial washing equipment will benefit residents and hopefully the early construction of a conservatory will bring greater' scope for in house
entertainment for everyone.
The priory has an active training program for staff with some 60% qualified to N.V.Q 2 and our seniors to N.V.Q 3. In addition 2 members of staff are qualified T.L.D.B City & Guild assessors. It is our
intention to offer and encourage all members of staff at the " Priory" to seek N.V.Q qualifications.
