THE HOUSE HISTORY.

The main building was erected around the middle of the 19th century as two semi detached houses known as Wychbury Villas. Reputably built by and for two brothers the original houses had a coach house, stable block and extensive paddocks. The paddocks were sold many years ago for the building of houses. West as far as Bromwich lane and east to include the house called Wychbold.

Part of Wychbury was acquired in 1983 and converted into a care home followed by the remainder of the house in 1986. A careful programme of conversion and improvement has taken place over the ensuing years to create the present care home. Every care has been taken to preserve the historical and architectural charm of the building whilst complying with the modern requirements of the Local Authority and Fire Department. The end product is, we believe, a beautiful building with warmth and feel of Home.

We readily admit that much remains to be done but then isn't that the true nature of life.

The grounds are extensive with broad lawns, a sun terrace, a large Koi pool, borders, B.B.Q area, and a small paddock with stable which the local youngsters use for their horses. There are always animals in evidence of which our cats are firm favourites.

THE MAIN HOUSE.

The main house consists of three floors linked by three staircases and three passenger lifts. The building is protected by a fire alarm system which is divided into zones so that in the event of fire the source is easily identified and anybody in that zone moved to safety in another part of the building. Each zone is separated from another by fire doors which close automatically when the alarm sounds.

The ground floor houses three lounges, a conservatory, sun lounge and the dining room. Each lounge has a different character  with choice for the residents. There are six bedrooms on the ground floor.
The first and second floors house bedrooms and bathrooms, all have en suite facilities, a "nurse call" system to each bed and an intercom to the care office. All doorways and corridors are wide to ensure easy access for wheel chairs or frames.

The main house contains 35 bedrooms of which 31 are single rooms and 4 are companion rooms. The two main bathrooms are equipped with hoists so that lack of mobility is not a problem. Toilets on the ground floor are situated near to the lounges and cater for the needs of everyone including the disabled.
A bathroom on the ground floor is equipped with a Parker bath which is specifically designed to help people with mobility problems. The  Parker bath has a "Spa facility" which is extremely popular.

THE COACH HOUSE.

Linked  to the main house, the Coach House is a separate unit for up to 5 independently mobile people.
It has 5 single bedrooms, a lounge, dining room, kitchen and bathroom. The two upstairs bedrooms may
be linked to form a suite for a married couple if desired. All but one bedroom have en suite facilities.
There is a stair lift to aid anyone requiring help with stairs and a separate fire escape for security of mind.
There is a nurse call and intercom system to every room linked to the main house together with full fire
alarm facilities.
